Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has paid tribute to a Wrexham fan who has died weeks after helping him fulfill his final wish.

Jay Fear, from Southampton, battled appendix cancer and was invited to meet the Wrexham co-owner at the Racecourse Stadium last month.

The Deadpool star, who co-owns the Welsh club with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Rob McElhenney, gave Mr Fear a signed glove from the second Marvel movie during the visit.

The meeting came about thanks to Bucket List Wishes which organised the event for Jay and his family.

Jay said it was not only an incredible moment for him but for his family too.

He told the BBC: ‘They are the ones that are going to remember what happened for the rest of their lives.’

He was joined by wife, Deb, his daughter, Jess and son, Sam and said: ‘I just hope this is a core memory that they’ll never forget.’

Paying tribute to Jay on social media, Reynolds wrote: ‘So grateful to have spent time with Jay Fear. He didn’t have much of it left and the fact he shared that time so freely with others is something I’ll never take for granted and never forget. This man lived.

‘Sending all my love to Deb, Jess and Sam.

‘Thank you for sharing your dad with me. I know how inadequate words must be given your enormous loss. Sending you all your love from my family, Wrexham and beyond.

‘I loved every second I spent with Jay.’
