EastEnders has revealed a first look at the moment Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) reunites with David Wicks (Michael French) for the first time in almost two decades.
Cindy, as viewers know, was thought to be dead, having been killed in prison in 1998 while serving a sentence for trying to have husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt) murdered.
But a shock twist last year confirmed that the character has been alive this whole time, living in witness protection under the guise of Rose Knight, who coincidentally turned out to be the ex-wife of new Queen Vic owner George (Colin Salmon).
With Jackie Ford, her former cell mate whom she was informing on, having died, Cindy was told that she was allowed to return to life as she previously knew it, taking a trip from her home in France back to Walford.
Ian, who reunited with Cindy in of-screen scenes, was happier than ever to be back on the Square with his formerly murderous ex-wife, though Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) had a lot to say about Cindy’s return from the dead.
In the year that followed, Cindy has returned to form, attempting to win the affections of George, who is currently engaged to Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe).
