South Park writers have been given a helping hand after using AI bot ChatGPT to put together the latest episode.
For the uninitiated, ChatGPT is a chatbot developed by OpenAI, a company linked to billionaire Elon Musk.
It is a natural language processing tool driven by AI technology that allows you to have human-like conversations with a chatbot.
In a very meta turn of events, the episode Deep Learning began with the students at South Park Elementary discovering they can get the technology do their homework and school assignments for them.
But the boys decided to use it for their own gain in another important way – to talk to girls.
In one scene, Clyde explained the software to Stan and said there were a ‘bunch of apps and programs you can subscribe to that use OpenAI to do all of your writing for you’.
The episode also saw the characters try out the technology themselves (Picture: Comedy Central)
‘People use them to write poems, write job applications, but what they’re really good for is dealing with chicks,’ he added.
It then sparked Stan, Butters, Clyde and Cartman to use it to write messages to the girlfriends, however they hit some trouble when the girls at school installed an app alerting them to messages written by the software.

But by the time the credits started rolling, eagle-eyed viewers noticed the tool was listed as one of the two writers responsible for the episode, alongside the show’s creator Trey Parker.

In recent weeks, new episodes of the long-running series have also generated plenty of headlines, most notably one poking fun at Prince Harry and Meghan.
The brutal episode, titled The Worldwide Privacy Tour, saw characters resembling Harry and Meghan try to settle down in a new town, much to the chagrin of their new neighbours, who branded them ‘dumb’ and ‘stupid’.
South Park is streaming on Paramount Plus.
