Sean Lock was not a fan of Russell Brand, with a resurfaced clip revealing why.

It comes as Brand finds himself at the centre of very serious allegations from women accusing him of rape, sexual assault, and controlling behaviour over a seven-year period at the height of his fame in mainstream TV and radio.

The Get Him to the Greek actor, 48, was revealed as the subject of an investigation by Channel 4 and The Times over the weekend, with a Dispatches special delving into the shocking claims from his alleged victims, one of whom said she was just 16 when he ‘shoved his penis down her throat’.

More women have since come forward with allegations, with Brand previously denying all wrongdoing and claiming his sexual encounters were ‘consensual.’

As Brand continues to be a huge topic of conversation on social media, old interviews and clips of his comedy have started to do the rounds again.

One of these comes from Lock, who died from cancer in August 2021 aged 58.

During an appearance on 8 Out of 10 Cats in 2014, the regular panellist spoke about Brand – who was promoting his book, Revolution, at the time – and his ‘fears’ that his daughters would date someone like him.

‘Probably the reason I hate him so much is because I’m a dad, and I’ve got this fear that one day my daughters will bring something like that home,’ Lock said.

Gesticulating wildly with flamboyant hand movements, Lock proceeded to joke: ‘And he’ll come in and go, “Ooh, such pleasure to be in your charming abode!”‘

Lock earned laughs from the whole studio audience at the time, with Twitter users now recirculating the clip and singing his praises.

Meanwhile, following the allegations made against Brand, the Metropolitan Police released a statement, showing that they are well aware.

It read: ‘We are aware of media reporting of a series of allegations of sexual assault.

‘At this time, we have not received any reports in relation to this.

‘If anyone believes they have been the victim of a sexual assault, no matter how long ago it happened, we would encourage them to contact police.

‘We spoke with the Sunday Times on Saturday, September 16. We will be making further approaches to the Sunday Times and Channel 4 to ensure that any victims of crime who they have spoken with are aware of how they may report any criminal allegations to police.’

The BBC has also revealed it is ‘urgently looking into the issues raised’ surrounding Brand and his alleged behaviour.
