Real Madrid will be without Jude Bellingham for the rest of this month after he limped out of Saturday’s thumping 4-0 victory over La Liga title rivals Girona.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side dismantled their opponents at the Bernabeu, with Vinicius Junior getting them off to the perfect start with a scorching long-range effort after just six minutes.
Bellingham then latched on to a stunning pass from the Brazilian to double the lead, before tapping home a rebound not long after the restart to effectively put the game to bed.
But, just a couple of minutes after netting his second goal, the England international went down in pain after his foot slipped beneath him.
After receiving medical treatment, Bellingham decided he could not carry on and he limped off the pitch – though he appeared to move pretty freely in the dugout when Rodrygo added a fourth goal not long after.
Ancelotti confirmed afterwards that Bellingham had suffered an ankle sprain and now Real have provided a fresh update after he was sent for a scan.
‘Following tests carried out today on Jude Bellingham by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his left ankle,’ read the brief statement. ‘His recovery will be monitored.’

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bellingham is suffering from a ‘high-grade’ sprain and is likely to be out of action for 2-3 weeks.
As things stand, Real are hoping to have him back in time for their Champions League last-16 second-leg clash against RB Leipzig on March 7.
That means Bellingham will miss the first leg away to Leipzig on Tuesday, as well as La Liga clashes against Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla and Valencia.

The injury will be a huge blow to Real, with Bellingham having performed incredibly so far this season.
His brace against Girona saw re-take the outright lead as La Liga’s top goalscorer, with his 16 goals in 21 games putting him ahead of both Girona’s Artem Dovbyk and Getafe’s Borja Mayoral – who are both on 14 goals.
Bellingham also has four goals and three assists in five Champions League outings this season – a goal involvement every 64 minutes – and will be a big miss against Leipzig.
The England star’s absence adds to an already long list of injury concerns for Real, with Antonio Rudiger also missing the game against Leipzig, while the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao are long-time absentees.
