Speedrun cookie baking is serious business (Twitch)

Twitch streamer QTCinderella smashes the speedrun record for baking cookies so much that a moderator is now re-evaluating the rules.

Twitch streamers are known for taking on strange challenges to get their fans excited, and they often find ridiculously creative ways to do them, like drinking a gallon of water with a fork.

Another recent challenge, during Women’s History Month in the US, saw male streamers attempt to name 100 women as fast as possible.

That competition was organised by QTCinderella, and she’s now challenged herself to speedrun baking 12 cookies, which she did, easily beating the official record. But she might’ve been just too good, as a moderator is now investigating whether the rules need changing.

QTCinderella’s score of three minutes and 47 seconds is a whole 38 seconds faster than second place on Speedrun.com (yes, cookie baking has it’s own category).

To get that impressive score she saved time by using vegetable oil instead of butter, and used a second baking tray to flatten all the cookies in one go before putting them in the oven.

Proud of her achievement, QTCinderella showed her finished cookies to her fans, and measured them to make sure they were big enough for all to see.

A moderator on Speedrun.com, however, has temporarily suspended the cookie baking category, saying:

‘We are temporarily archiving the IRL [In real life] baking category in order to re-evaluate the rules and come back with a more cohesive and comprehensive set of rules.’

They went on to say the new rules will aim to add a complete list of all ingredients allowed and which ones can be substituted, which tools can be used, and judge more harshly the resulting cookies.

QTCinderella’s attempt wasn’t mentioned specifically, but the post went up soon after she got her score on the leaderboard, and it sounds like the moderator has more than one issue with her methods.

Speedrunning is no joke it seems, even if it’s just baking cookies, as the moderator concludes that the leaderboard may or may not be restored once the review is finished.
