Peter Crouch believes Filip Jorgensen has shown enough to start ahead of Robert Sanchez for Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa this Sunday.
Chelsea maintained their perfect record in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night as second-half goals from Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk sealed a 2-0 win over Bundesliga side Heidenheim.
Jorgensen, who joined Chelsea in a £20.7 million deal from Villarreal in the summer, made his fourth appearance of the season in the competition with Robert Sanchez keeping his place as Enzo Maresca’s first-choice goalkeeper in the Premier League.
But ahead of Villa’s visit to Stamford Bridge this weekend, Crouch feels Jorgensen should be handed his Premier League debut with Sanchez dropping to the bench.
‘Chelsea didn’t have their own way tonight, they had to rely on Jorgensen quite a few times,’ Crouch told TNT Sports.

‘I think he deserves a shot, I have to say.
‘There’s been a lot talk around Sanchez, a few mistakes, he looks nervy at times. Every time I’ve seen him [Jorgensen] play, he’s not put a foot wrong.’
Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole was also impressed with Jorgensen’s latest display in goal.
‘He’s one of those goalies where you don’t hear his name, there’s nothing flashy, he gets the job done,’ Cole said.
‘What’s interesting is that although it’s been a canter for Chelsea this competition, he’s faced a lot of shots, so he’s getting tested and he’s producing moments.
‘Good positioning, consistent, he’ll be pushing for a start.’
