The Battersbys get a fresh shock in Coronation Street next week as they learn more about Les’ (Bruce Jones) death.

As fans know, the character was killed off-screen last month, with his daughter Leanne (Jane Danson), stepdaughter Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and stepson Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) stunned to hear of his passing.

As our spoiler video from Wednesday’s episode reveals, the family gathers to hear the reading of Les’ will at Adam Barlow’s (Sam Robertson) legal office.

Adam states that Les only had a meagre amount of savings to leave Leanne, Toyah and Chesney.

His stepdaughter Fiz Dobbs (Jenny McAlpine) is left a monogrammed cigarette lighter, while Chesney also gets his famous snakeskin jacket. As a long-time Status Quo superfan, Les also left a final copy of the band’s Piledriver album to pal Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment).

However, Les’ family are stunned as Adam then reveals that the abattoir where Les was working when he died is prepared to pay them £50,000 if they agree to sign an NDA.

Adam says he has no more information on the sequence of events that led to his accident, but the company’s offer of hush money is immediately treated with suspicion.

‘That doesn’t sound dodgy at all,’ remarks Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).

‘Fifty grand for an NDA? That’s well dodgy. We need to challenge that,’ agrees Chesney.

Leanne is overwhelmed and needs to go outside for some air, while the rest of the family reel from what they have just heard.

Will they get to the bottom of Les’ death, or will they take the offer of the abattoir’s cash?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday 4th December at 8pm on ITV1, or stream first from 7am on ITVX.
