The 2022 Laver Cup was briefly interrupted by a climate change activist who burst onto the court and lit his right arm on fire during Friday’s day session.

The incident occurred during Stefanos Tsitsipas’ singles match against Diego Schwartzman, with Team Europe leading Team World 1-0 following Casper Ruud’s victory over Jack Sock, but both players and match officials were unharmed.

The protester wore a white t-shirt which read ‘end UK private jets’ and he was dragged off the court at The O2 in London by members of security.

‘An activist just set themselves on fire, protesting private jets at #lavercup,’ a spectator posted on Twitter.

An activist just set themselves on fire, protesting private jets at #lavercup. I wish there wasn’t any need to create awareness about #climatechange anymore. I hope they’re not hurt. The court seemed to be on fire at one point but is not damaged. The match has resumed. pic.twitter.com/NoukxBcxJH
