Content creator Mike Smalls Jr has taken streaming to a new, very dangerous level, while camping during the deadly Hurricane Helene storm.

As competitive as livestreaming is on platforms such as Twitch, Kick, and YouTube, some content creators decide to rely on outright dangerous stunts to grow their channels.

One Kick streamer broadcast himself as the passenger when a street racer darted through traffic at high speed, eventually crashing and resulting in a ban. There’s also the Instagram influencer who willingly crawled into a bear cave and waited for it to return.

Now another Kick streamer has been playing with death, as he set up a tent by a river in the middle of Hurricane Helene.

Hurricane Helene is a powerful storm currently hitting the southeast of the US, where over 150 people have been confirmed dead.

Streamer Mike Smalls Jr decided to do a challenge to see if he could survive the hurricane, as he put up his tent under a bridge next to the shore.

Clips show how the storm got worse and worse, to the point where it started flooding around him, with sideways rain thanks to extremely strong winds.

The storm got so bad that Smalls Jr finally decided to leave, saying that the water got up to his knees.

The day after he told his viewers, ‘Once I felt like my life was in jeopardy, I was like, ‘We’ve got to get the f*** out of here,” adding, ‘It got real bad.’

Smalls Jr got out of it without any injuries, but said he’s never doing it again, as he ‘almost died’.

Understandably, his stunt resulted in a mixed reaction from fans on social media, with some finding it amusing while others criticised him for being reckless.

Smalls Jr also said he overpaid his Uber driver $50 (£38) for taking him home after, because he felt he needed to ‘show some love’ to someone working during a hurricane.

‘Got to entertain the people,’ says Smalls Jr (Twitter)
