As an island nation, we have access to some incredible seafood here in the UK. And luckily, we don’t all need to fine-tune our fishing skills to enjoy it.
We can head to the fish counter on Morrisons Market Street to find fish that’s been freshly prepared in store by their fishmongers.
And this year, Morrisons are celebrating 125 years of serving quality fresh food by championing the experts who make it all possible. What began as a stall at Bradford Market in 1899 is still dedicated to serving the freshest produce and offering expert service courtesy of their in-store butchers, fishmongers and bakers.

At the fish counter, you can choose from a wide selection which includes salmon, mackerel or sea bream, along with cod loin and sardines. You can opt for a whole fish, smaller portions, heads or fillets.
And for shellfish, try the fresh mussels or make things easy for yourself and pick up a Morrisons Market Street fish pie mix.
The Market Street experts recommend that you always choose fish that smells like the sea and is firm to the touch. It should have a bright sheen to its skin and be translucent without any blemishes, that’s how you will know it’s fresh.
At the counter, you can ask the Market Street fishmongers to prepare as much or as little as you want, and they can skin, debone and fillet your fish for you, taking care of all the fiddly work for you.
They’ll also give you ice to keep your fish fresher for longer and if you wrap it in parchment of waxed paper before placing it in the fridge, it will keep for up to two days. All fish bags are also microwaveable and oven proof, making preparation at home even easier.
If you need any extra tips, the Morrisons Market Street experts are happy to give you a few ideas and pointers.
Here are a few of their favourite easy-to-prepare dishes – in partnership with BBC Good Food – so you can enjoy the freshest catch at home…
