A girl aged four died after being struck by a minibus during the morning rush hour.

The child had been on foot when she sustained serious injuries in the road traffic collision, which took place yesterday at a junction in Reading, and died later in hospital.

The driver remained on the scene, with no arrests made by police.

Investigating officer at Thames Valley Police, Detective Inspector Justin Thomas, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: ‘A young child was very sadly killed as a result of this collision.

‘My thoughts are with the family and everyone affected.

‘An investigation is underway and I am appealing to anybody who was in the local area at the time of the collision to check any dashcam footage in case it has captured something that may help the investigation.’

A red Ford Transit minibus collided with the girl on the junction of Goldsmid Road and Russell Street between 8.15am and 8.30am, police said.

Her next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers.

Thames Valley Police asked anyone with evidence to upload it to their dedicated portal for the investigation, contact 101, or make a report online via their website, quoting reference 43240471081.
