A PS5 port of another Xbox exclusive is allegedly being prepared for release, but will it arrive next year alongside Indiana Jones?

While Xbox is historically known for franchises like Halo and Gears Of War, the platform’s most acclaimed exclusives in recent years have been smaller titles like Pentiment and the ongoing Forza Horizon series.

Forza Horizon 5 may well be the best exclusive on the Xbox Series X, but so far there’s been no sign of it being ported to other systems, as part of Microsoft’s multiplatform push – which has seen the likes of Sea Of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, and Grounded come to other consoles.

However, it turns out a port of Forza Horizon 5 might already be in the can. According to an insider, a PlayStation 5 version was originally supposed to launch this summer but it has been delayed to an unknown date.

This rumour comes from known insider eXtas1s, who is best known for leaking Xbox Game Pass announcements ahead of time. ‘Forza Horizon 5 has already been ported to PlayStation 5, but its release was delayed (not cancelled) this past summer,’ they wrote on X (as translated by Google).

‘However, they consider it a game that can do quite well, and it will arrive, I don’t know when, but it will arrive.’

Based on Microsoft’s recent strategy, it makes sense that Forza Horizon 5 would eventually come to PlayStation – although it’s unclear why it would have been delayed, unless it was to avoid more negative outcry from Xbox fans.

Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, another Xbox game, is set to launch on PlayStation 5 in spring 2025, so it’s possible Forza Horizon 5 might be planned for later next year.

A PlayStation 5 port could even be timed alongside an announcement for Forza Horizon 6. Developer Playground Games is set to launch Fable next year, but job listings dating back to 2022 suggest the studio is also working on the next Forza Horizon game.

Rumours around a sequel have started to pick up too. According to ResetEra user KRT, posting in response to eXtas1s’ claims, Forza Horizon 6 is ‘far off’ but, based on loading screenshots they’ve seen, it will take place in a ‘certain locale people [have] been asking for [for] years.’

They don’t state anything specific about the location, but fans have speculated it could be Japan. Forza Horizon 5 was set in Mexico, while prior entries in the series have taken place in the UK, Australia, France, Italy, and the US. While it’s worth taking these rumours with a pinch of salt, the first Forza Horizon set in Asia would certainly be a big selling point.

If the claims around a PlayStation 5 port of Forza Horizon 5 are true, it’s possible we could see an announcement at The Game Awards, which takes place on Thursday, December 12.
