Manchester United’s board have allocated Erik ten Hag a summer budget of just £100m, despite the Dutchman’s desire to sign up to four players.
Harry Kane is Ten Hag’s primary target and, even in the unlikely case that Spurs would sanction the striker’s departure to Old Trafford, they’d charge around £100m for the England captain.
That would use Ten Hag’s entire budget, as the Athletic claim he’s been handed just £100m to spend this summer.
That’s despite the fact that the Dutchman is targeting a central midfielder, a central defender and a new right-back in the window.
Ten Hag will therefore have to raise funds through player sales and the likes of Dean Henderson, Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial, Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga are all available for transfer.

Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones will all leave the club at the end of the season, while the club will consider offers for Fred.
Depending on the levels of interest in those players, United could hope to raise upwards of £100m through player sales.

That would help fund a £55m move for Mason Mount, but the budget would have to be stretched even further to compete for the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham.
United’s revenues will be boosted by a return to the Champions League and they’ll seal a top four spot with a point in their final two league matches.
