Is Jack Stacey’s night in shining armour? (Picture: BBC)
If you cast your mind back to February, you may remember that the phrase ‘knight in shining armour’ had EastEnders fans everywhere quaking in their boots, and it was all thanks to that iconic flash forward episode that saw The Six gathered around a dead body in the Queen Vic.
Well, in tonight’s (September 19) instalment of the BBC soap, that phrase was brought up again, and as were our theories about the murder set to rock Albert Square this Christmas.
During the flash forward scene, fans couldn’t help but notice a new addition to the decor of the Queen Vic, which couldn’t just be attributed to decking the halls for Christmas.
Behind a blood-covered Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) stood a huge suit of armour, which soon became a solid talking point among fans.
The importance of the ‘knight in shining armour’ imagery soon became even more clear when this specific phrase was cleverly used in several different interviews by executive producer Chris Clenshaw.
At the time, he associated the phrase with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), another member of The Six, and revealed that her ‘knight in shining armour’ may come as a surprise.
It has since been revealed that the suit of armour actually belongs to George Knight (Colin Salmon), and he has put it in every bar he has run.
However, fans couldn’t shake the idea that the positioning of the knight behind Stacey was important, and recent scenes got us thinking about it all over again, wondering if the connection to the Knights was just to throw us off the scent.
Stacey has been having a lot of trouble with stalker Theo Hawthorne (William Ellis) in recent weeks, and things have only got worse for her since he moved in next door.

In order to try and get something done about him, Stacey turned to detective Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) for support.
Given that they share a granddaughter, Jack was happy to help in order to keep his family safe.
He agreed to set about getting an interim stalking protection order put in place, and told Stacey to contact him if Theo ever did anything.
In tonight’s episode, Stacey referred to Jack as her knight in shining armour, which got us seriously thinking about how he may be involved come Christmas.
