Sending an out of office email and slamming the laptop shut is a great feeling – especially as it usually means you’re about to embark on a nice relaxing holiday.

But for one bride, her OOO moment came as an opportunity to remind her colleagues of her wedding registry – which included cash donations.

The brave woman messaged her entire company, nudging them to make a monetary contribution.

She invited some of her coworkers to the wedding too, of course, but the big event was happening in Asia… and she gave them just one month’s notice to travel there from the US.

To make matters worse, her email went out to 6,000 people – many of whom who had never met the bride.

Not one to back down, the bride then reiterated the message in a work presentation, reminding people that she was getting married and money was welcome.

Unsurprisingly, her coworkers weren’t too pleased with the cheeky requests and one of them shared the whole affair on Reddit.

Posting on r/weddingshaming, the poster wrote they found it ‘cringey’ that their colleague was not only demanding a cash gift, but that she kept sending prompts.

They also wrote they were also surprised that management hadn’t stepped in to intervene.

The poster wrote on the thread: ‘Bride emails 6k+ employees an invitation to her wedding with one month notice to a destination wedding in Asia with a screenshot of her all cash registry. She reshares the link in her OOO email and also in our organisation wide presentation.’

Sharing an image of the bride’s email, the poster added: ‘I don’t know her or have ever worked with her, but it’s been so cringey to witness this all go down.

‘I also can’t seem to escape it! She shares it everywhere!!! My coworkers and I are annoyed no one in leadership or even her manager have not told her this behaviour is not okay. Instead her shameless plugs have been escalating.’

Since the post went viral, the employee revealed other disturbing details about the bride’s email.

Those who wanted to RSVP couldn’t as the emails would bounce back and not go through.

Some people on the thread called the opportunity a ‘cash grab’ from the bride, who, according to them, wanted money for the wedding but didn’t actually want people to attend.

Others joked that they should make the bride sweat a little and RSVP ‘yes’ – or invite global colleagues to attend.

One person, @silverchips, wrote: ‘Maybe you could share the RSVP with people in the area so her wedding gets bombarded by the Asia branch of your work and she has an extra 50 people to feed.’

Redditors asked why HR wasn’t getting involved as this behaviour wouldn’t fly in other work places.
