Roy Cropper (David Neilson) breaks Evelyn Plummer’s (Maureen Lipman) heart in upcoming Coronation Street episodes as an incident with an Eccles cake leads to the death of Cerberus, her dog.

After calling into the café where Roy apologises for missing her birthday party, Evelyn later realises Cerberus hasn’t eaten his dinner.
With the dog still unwell, a concerned Tyrone (Alan Halsall) insists they take him along to the vets.
Sadly, when the vet suggests it might be food poisoning, a guilty Roy reveals that he dropped an Eccles cake on the floor and fears Cerberus may have eaten it.
Both angry and worried, Evelyn tells Roy that if anything happens to her beloved pooch, she’ll never forgive him.

Later on, the vet breaks the news to Evelyn that Cerberus is suffering from kidney failure and at the end of the week, an angry Evelyn brands the café a death trap.
Meanwhile, a heartbroken Roy tells Nina (Mollie Gallagher) that he’s getting rid of his phone as had he not been distracted, he wouldn’t have dropped the cake and Cerberus may still be alive.
