Lauren is currently locked up for Joel’s murder (Picture: ITV)
Coronation Street fans have shared their suspicions about a ‘dodgy’ new character involved in Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) prison storyline.
The young mother is currently locked up awaiting trial for the murder of her abuser Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
Earlier this week, Lauren was upset in her cell as she worried about the future care situation for her baby son Frankie, who has already had a tough start after spending the first few months of his life in an intensive care baby unit.
An emotional Lauren was comforted by a prison guard, who asked about Frankie and told her to ‘try to stay positive’, adding: ‘You never know, it still might work out all right for both you.’

On X (formerly Twitter), fans shared their theories that he was perhaps somehow connected to Joel, who groomed many young girls.
‘There was definitely something about him that makes me think he’ll hurt Lauren or he knows Joel,’ one fan wrote.
‘i thought this too, there was something so off about him…’ said another.

Meanwhile, she has started making provisions for if that cannot happen, with Max Turner (Paddy Bever) agreeing to take care of him.
However, that decision has already caused yet another divide in Shona and David Platt’s (Julia Goulding and Jack P. Shepherd) marriage.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 or stream first from 7am on ITVX.
