There are three main versions of the Chase Freedom card, but only two — the Chase Freedom Unlimited® and Chase Freedom Flex℠ — are available to new applicants.

Some cardholders choose to keep the Chase Freedom® and add another flavor of Freedom card to make the most of category bonuses and maximize rewards.
The right Chase Freedom card for you depends on your spending habits — and whether you want to earn up to 5x rotating quarterly bonus categories or prefer a straightforward rewards structure.

It’s also possible to have more than one Freedom card, so some choose to keep their Chase Freedom® and open a second Freedom card (the Chase Freedom Unlimited® or Chase Freedom Flex℠) to take advantage of more opportunities for earning in bonus categories.
If you’re thinking of applying for a new Freedom card, or switching your existing Chase Freedom® to one of the updated versions, you’ll want to take your spending patterns and rewards-earning preferences into consideration. Here’s everything to know before you make a decision.
