At the end of last Saturday (March 11)’s episode of Casualty, we saw Robyn (Amanda Henderson) lying seriously hurt and moaning with pain after her car had overturned in a multi-vehicle accident.
As the call went out for ambulances to attend the scene we saw Sah (Arin Smethurst) and Jan (Di Botcher)’s frustration that they weren’t able to answer the call because they still had a patient on their ambulance and Jacob (Charles Venn) was refusing to allow more patients into an over-stretched department.
Of course what nobody knew then was that one of their own was lying seriously injured. As this week’s episode picks up straight after the last one ended, it opens with Robyn still trapped in her car as a fire crew try their best to help her as there are no ambulances in sight.
When she’s eventually brought into the ED there’s a desperate battle to save her, and former Holby favourite Sacha Levy (Bob Barrett) is summoned from Keller to lend his surgical skills.

Robyn’s situation weighs heavily on the rest of the staff team as they anxiously wait for news. Charlie (Derek Thompson), in particular, is suffering because the last time he saw Robyn she accused him of not being supportive of her when she took a stand against Jacob’s handling of the department last week and he desperately hopes she’s going to pull through.

Elsewhere the ED is once again at breaking point as the staff struggle to give people the care they need under huge pressure. While some patients who are clearly in need try to make light of their problems and don’t want to be a burden, we see that others are more than willing to make a huge fuss and try to get to the front of the queue.
Meanwhile, after Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) got a phone call from Elsie (Amanda Barrie) last week she tries to help her friend – and makes a shocking discovery.
