Brentford boss Thomas Frank has played down speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United, though admits he is ‘flattered’ by the reports.

After a run of just one win in eight Premier League games, manager Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure at Old Trafford and could be axed at the end of the season.

Back-to-back defeats have left them in eighth place in the table and they could potentially miss out on European qualification for next season.

New minority owners Ineos are thought to be mulling over their options, with England boss Gareth Southgate and departing Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel among the candidates in the frame to replace Ten Hag should United pull the trigger.

A new name has also emerged, with The Telegraph reporting this week that Frank could be in contention too – in part due to his pre-existing relationship with Ineos chief Sir Dave Brailsford, who is playing a leading role behind the scenes.

Frank, though, insists he is happy and settled at Brentford and does not anticipate leaving the west London club any time soon, even if United come calling.

Asked about the fresh links with United, Frank told Danish publication Bold: ‘I am really happy where I am.

‘It is close to being the perfect club to be at. I can see myself being here for many more years.’

He continued: ‘I am close to the owner, to the sports director, everyone around the club. Brentford is a club where I really feel at home.’

Asked how it feels to be linked with such a big job, Frank replied: ‘First of all I think it is flattering and a recognition of the work I’ve done.
