Joel made his presence felt (Picture: ITV)
Evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill) made a chilling threat as he managed to evade justice in Friday’s Coronation Street.
The sinister solicitor’s crimes caught up with him earlier this month, when his fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) found evidence linking him to grooming Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
Since then, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) has made it her mission to get him charged, since also uncovering his links to her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin).
But she was dealt a devastating blow in the latest episode of the ITV soap when she was informed that the case against him was being dropped due to insufficient evidence.

DS Swain was then forced to release Joel without charge, who burst into laughter and berated the police’s incompetence for arresting him three times without a case to answer.
A frustrated Swain then warned him if he was to go near Dee-Dee or Lauren again, he would have more than just prison to worry about.
However, her words did little to deter him, and after being released, he headed straight to the hospital to see his and Lauren’s son Frankie, where he came face-to-face with Lauren.

He soon began taunting her and calling her names, before then chillingly telling her he wants to ‘ruin her life the way she is ruining his’.
Goading Lauren, he said Frankie would be ‘better off dead’ than with a mum like Lauren, prompting her to physically attack him, before they were separated by a nurse.
Seizing an opportunity, Joel then called the police with DS Swain forced to arrest Lauren for assault.
While Lauren was later released, Joel looks set to take his revenge further, as the end of the episode saw him call a friend who was a family lawyer…
Will he get Frankie taken away from Lauren?
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
