Arsenal icon Mesut Ozil is continuing his stunning body transformation and a new social media clip of the ex-midfielder’s bulging muscles has gone viral.

Ozil spent eight years at Arsenal from 2013 to 2021, producing 44 goals and 78 assists across 254 games, helping the north Londoners win four FA Cup trophies.

The 35-year-old was among the best midfielders in the world at his peak and was named Arsenal Player of the Season for 2015-16 – conjuring up the most assists in the entire Premier League in that campaign – to win the hearts of Gunners fans.

It all went sour in the latter part of his stay at the Emirates, though, with Arsenal forced to pay him off and his agent slamming publicly slamming Mikel Arteta after he was frozen out of the squad, before he joined Fenerbahce as a free agent.

Having retired from football aged 34 in March 2023 over recurring injuries, Ozil has been on a body transformation journey, spending most his time in the gym.

Football fans have been left stunned by his new appearance, with some commenting that he may have one eye on a new career in WWE or the UFC.

Ozil has posted a fresh clip on social media in which he looks bigger than ever, lifting two 50kg dumbbells while appearing to wear an additional weight vest.

‘Is he about to join the WWE?’ One fan, @_FarouqOlami, posted on X, while another supporter added: ‘Bro about to join UFC.’

His former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo has also been impressed, commenting under one of Ozil’s recent posts: ‘Bro, not bad.’

Rio Ferdinand told Ozil that he was ‘looking strong’ while Real Madrid and Germany defender Antonio Rudiger described the retired star as a ‘beast’.

Ozil secured World Cup glory with Germany in 2014 and he is set to return to the pitch in England for the upcoming eight-team Over-35 World Cup tournament.

He is not the only former star to bulk up in retirement with the likes of Antonio Valencia, Fernando Torres and Micah Richards going on similar journeys.

Premier League strikers Callum Wilson and Michail Antonio have provided insight into why current players do not pump iron and why some go for it in retirement.
