A man who allegedly shot three people at a Marin detox center, including the mother of his child, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of murder and attempted murder.
Davance Lamar Reed, 37, could face about 70 years to life in prison if convicted of all the charges, the prosecution said.

The attack early Monday killed Nathan Lamont Hill, 52, of Vallejo. He was an employee at the San Rafael detox clinic, known as the Helen Vine Recovery Center.
The other two victims survived but were critically injured. One was his girlfriend, Brittany Kehaulani McCann, 30, of Marin City. The other was detox staffer, Anthony Dominguez Mansapit, 32.
The attack left McCann and Mansapit comatose or permanently paralyzed, according to the criminal complaint filed Wednesday by the Marin County District Attorney’s Office. Details about their conditions were not available, although McCann’s family told a visitor she is in a medically induced coma.
Investigators think the shooting happened after McCann, a substance abuse counselor, brought her boyfriend to the detox center in hopes of getting him treatment, said sheriff’s Lt. Steve de la O. The events leading to the shooting remained under investigation.
After the attack, Reed allegedly fled the crime scene in a car used by Mansapit. Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies arrested Reed after a chase on Highway 101 that reached speeds of about 110 mph and ended in the Rohnert Park area.
Reed was transferred from the Sonoma County Jail to Marin’s jail on Wednesday afternoon in preparation for his arraignment. He is being held without bail.
The prosecution charged Reed with one count of murder; two counts of attempted murder; domestic violence against the mother of his child; vehicle theft; recklessly evading police; and possession of a semi-automatic firearm by a felon.
His prior record includes drug and firearms offenses in San Francisco, Monterey County, Lassen County and Nevada, the prosecution said.
Authorities described Reed as a transient with ties to Marin City and Vallejo.
The handgun used in the shooting has not been recovered.
McCann is a former drug user who went into recovery and became a drug and alcohol counselor. In 2016, the county probation department honored McCann with a place on its “Wall of Change,” which celebrates success stories in sobriety and law-abiding living.
Michael Daly, director of the county probation department, called McCann a “star.”
“Brittany successfully completed her probation grant last year and was still in communication with us,” Daly said in an email Wednesday. “She was trying to do the right thing by attempting to get the father of their child into treatment.
“We at Probation and Health and Human Services are all praying for Brittany as well her family. A GoFundMe page will be set up shortly as Brittany and her son will need ongoing support.”
