Gunfire broke out following a confrontation between large groups of people, and one of the bullets appeared to graze a 7-month-old, according to a statement from sheriff’s office spokesperson Jimmy Lee. Another also hit a man, he said.
Authorities did not provide an update on the condition of either two Tuesday morning. An ambulance rushed both to a hospital.
Investigators arrested a 19-year-old San Francisco resident and an 18-year-old Bay Point resident on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse, Lee said. Both were taken to the Martinez Detention Facility and held in lieu of $1.75 million bail, he said.
Jail records did not list either of them in custody early Tuesday.
The violence happened in the 3600 block of Desanie Circle about 5:45 p.m. According to Lee, callers said a street fight between two large groups of people happened, and shots eventually were fired.
The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information to contact them at 925-313-2600 or 925-646-2441. Anonymous tips can be left at 866-846-3592 or by emailing tips@so.cccounty.us.
