This Week on SalonTV: Antonio Banderas, Margo Martindale of “The Americans” and more



Antonio Banderas stops by “Salon Talks” this week to talk about playing the revolutionary artist Pablo Picasso in National Geographic’s anthology series “Genius,” premiering April 24. Alex Rich, who plays young Picasso, will join to unpack the complex role the two actors collaborated on. Plus, three-time Emmy Award-winning actor Margo Martindale from FX’s “The Americans” will appear on “Salon Talks” to discuss the sixth season of the award-winning series and her Hollywood career that’s spanned three decades.

SalonTV will talk politics with Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar, the first Somali-American Muslim woman to become a legislator, who is in town for the Tribeca Film Festival world premiere of Norah Shapiro’s documentary “Time for Ilhan,” which follows Omar’s highly contested campaign.

And, we’ll talk about another trailblazer, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is the subject of “RBG,” a documentary directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen that chronicles Ginsburg’s life, from her legal legacy to her unexpected pop culture icon status.

Plus, Dr. Irwin Redlener, pediatrician, activist and author of “What the Dreams of Children Mean for Twenty-First-Century America” will discuss disaster preparedness and how traumatic events like Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and Flint, Michigan’s water crisis affect children after the stories fade from the headlines. And, Salon’s senior political reporter Amanda Marcotte presents her new book, “Troll Nation: How The Right Became Trump-Worshipping Monsters Set On Rat-F*cking Liberals, America, and Truth Itself,” out April 24.
