Cara Maria Sorbello thinks she has to wait for Tori Deal to win to return

Familiar face

The Challenge star Cara Maria Sorbello hasn’t competed since 2019’s War of the Worlds 2. While it’s unclear why the familiar face has yet to return, she and her boyfriend Paulie Calafiore, who also hasn’t received an invitation, believe other players have something to do with it.

Familiar face Cara Maria Sorbello hasn’t competed in a season of The Challenge since 2019.

In an Oct. 2021 Instagram Live, Cara Maria insisted she couldn’t come back for another season until rival Tori Deal secured her first win.

She didn’t elaborate on why she believed that was the case, but she and Tori didn’t see eye to eye during her last season, War of the Worlds 2.

They worked in opposing alliances during the season, and Cara Maria refused to attend Tori’s in-house engagement party with then-fianceé Jordan Wiseley. The ladies still seemingly haven’t made up as Cara Maria recently threw shade at Tori and Jordan’s relationship in a post where she apparently questioned the validity of their engagement.

During an Oct. 2021 interview, Cara Maria and her boyfriend Paulie Calafiore, who also hasn’t returned to the series since War of the Worlds 2, spoke out on the veterans competing in the current season, Spies, Lies, and Allies.

He insisted the returning faces “convinced” the Challenge fandom that “real competitors” shouldn’t appear on the show. The two-time finalist named who he considered genuine contenders who also haven’t received an invitation to come back, including War of the Worlds champ Turbo Çamkıran, finalists Theo Campbell, Mattie Breaux, Georgia Harrison, and him and Cara Maria.

According to Paulie, current recurring players such as Josh Martinez, finalists Devin Walker, Kyle Christie, Nany González, and Anessa Ferreira have “manipulated” the fans into believing the veterans he named are reasons why the show isn’t doing well.

Paulie also thinks the players have boxed them out because they want “an easy pass to the final.” The two-time finalist finished by giving the current veterans “credit” for their “impressive manipulation.”

Cara Maria has won twice in her 14-season career

After getting eliminated first during her rookie season, the 23-year-old Massachusetts native bounced back for Cutthroat and Rivals, clocking second-place finishes back-to-back.
