San Jose State quarterback Chevan Cordeiro threw his first interception of the season Saturday and it could not have been more costly.
The pick, the first in 117 passes for Cordeiro, came in the fourth quarter and was returned 25 yards for a touchdown, sending the Spartans to a 21-17 loss in Toledo.
SJSU is off to a 1-3 start, its worst after four games since 2018, and it doesn’t get easier next week. The Spartans play Friday night against Air Force, which ran its record to 3-0 Saturday.
The Spartans led 17-7 in the third quarter.
