Police arrest Bay Area man after 100 mph chase on Highway 101

San Rafael police arrested a Novato man after a pursuit that exceeded 100 mph on Highway 101.

Police initially tried to stop the vehicle at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after seeing it speed through the Canal area and run a stop sign, said police Lt. Scott Eberle.

The driver fled through the neighborhood and headed north on Highway 101. He lost control at an offramp in Ignacio, exited the vehicle, tried to run away and was quickly arrested, Eberle said.

Brandon Josafat Gonzalez Moreno, 22, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of felony evading, misdemeanor obstruction, reckless driving and driving under the influence.
