According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect told detectives he was angry with the girl because she wouldn’t have sex with him, so he attacked her with a knife.

According to the sheriff’s office, the stabbing happened at a home in the 6000 block of North Bay Road in Springfield Township. Deputies responding to a 911 call from the girl’s parents found her with multiple stab wounds to her back and midsection, lying on the floor. The parents weren’t home at the time of the stabbing but rushed back after receiving a call from their daughter, who told them what had happened.
A younger sibling was in the home asleep when the stabbing took place, the sheriff’s office said.
The girl reportedly told authorities she and the suspect met on a social media website and discussed him coming to Michigan from his home in Monmouth, Illinois to visit her.
As stated in a news release from the sheriff’s office, per the girl’s statement: “When he arrived at the residence, the suspect became angry when he learned they were not going to engage in sexual activity and stabbed her multiple times with an 8-inch knife he had purchased on Tuesday in White Lake Township.”
The suspect fled from the residence after the stabbing and called 911, speaking to Waterford Township police dispatch, the sheriff’s office said. An officer responded to the suspect’s location and took him into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect was then turned over to detectives with the sheriff’s office.
