DALY CITY – One man is dead and another is in custody following a shooting Sunday in Daly City, police said.

San Mateo sheriff’s allegations against county executive will be investigated

The shooting happened around 7:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Mayfair Avenue, according to the Daly City Police Department. Officers arrived to find a 60-year-old Daly City man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived, but he was later identified as Maarij Abdullah Afridi, 21, of Daly City, according to police.

On Monday, detectives and SWAT team members arrested Afridi without incident.

Afridi’s mother, 50-year-old Zaib Un Nisa Afridi, was also identified as an accomplice to the homicide, police said.

Both mother and son were booked into San Mateo County jail on felony charges including first-degree murder.
