OAKLAND — A man was killed and two other people were wounded in a drive-by shooting early Saturday in the Uptown district and another man was in grave condition after another shooting three hours earlier in the downtown area, authorities said.
The two shootings do not appear to be related at this time, authorities said.
The fatal drive-by shooting happened about 3:16 a.m. in the 1900 block of Broadway.
Killed was a 35-year-old Pittsburg man, whose name has not yet been released.
A 29-year-old Berkeley woman was shot multiple times and a 37-year-old Berkeley man was shot in the leg. They were in stable condition at a hospital.
Police said the three were outside in the 1900 block of Broadway when someone in a passing vehicle began shooting at them. The Pittsburg man was taken to a hospital where he died.
The woman and other man were able to run to the 1700 block of Broadway from where they were taken to a hospital. Numerous other people were in the area but no one else was injured.
Police are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.
There have been other homicides and shootings in the Uptown district over the years.
On July 13 a man was killed and two women with him were wounded in a shooting in the 400 block of 19th Street.

And in 2018 three men were fatally shot on different streets in the district.
The killing is the 71st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. The California Highway Patrol has also investigated four homicides on city freeways. Last year at this time Oakland police had investigated 78 homicides in the city.
The other shooting happened about 12:13 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Webster Street where numerous people were gathered.
Authorities said a 25-year-old Alameda man was sitting in a parked vehicle when multiple gunshots were fired from on the street. He was the only one injured and was taken to a hospital. Police said the man may have been at a club in the area before the shooting.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made.
