Oakland: Police activity in West Oakland apartment complex


OAKLAND — Police officers, including SWAT team members, were at a West Oakland apartment complex Thursday after reports of shots possibly fired within an apartment, authorities said.

Around 8:30 a.m., patrol officers initially responded to a report of a possible shooting at the complex, with a possible suspect still inside.

Around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to the complex in the 800 block of West Grand Avenue, and began establishing traffic controls along West Grand between Market and Curtis streets.

By 11:30 a.m., members of the department’s SWAT team were outside a building, issuing calls for a person inside to come out.

As of 1:30 p.m., there was no one in custody, no initial reports of injuries and no confirmation that any suspect was inside.
