SAN JOSE — A motorcyclist died early Monday after slamming into at least one other car that previously had been involved in a crash, the California Highway Patrol said.

Passenger died in California freeway crash when horse flew through windshield, CHP said
The wreck on northbound Interstate 880 happened just south of The Alameda exit about 4:40 a.m.. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not identify the person immediately.
According to the CHP, a Honda Civic swerved to avoid something, ran into a barrier and overturned. The people in that vehicle got out of it after the wreck and were expected to be OK.
About three minutes after that crash, a motorcycle ran into that vehicle, the CHP said. The motorcyclist flew off and landed in a bush between the off-ramp and the freeway, according to the agency.
The crash blocked all lanes of I-880, the CHP issued a Sig Alert about 4:50 a.m. All the lanes were re-opened about 6:15 a.m.
