Police said that rule of thumb was thrown out on Monday by a rogue employee at a McDonald’s in the 1500 block of Sycamore Avenue. An argument between the worker and customer led to the employee’s arrest on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

That weapon, according to police: a 2005 black Acura TL.

According to police, the father of the 17-year-old customer called authorities about 7:10 p.m. after his son called to report that a McDonald’s employee had threatened him and run him over with a car.

Police said the teen reported that he got into an argument with the 21-year-old employee and that the employee got into the Acura and threatened to run him over.

The driver of the Acura drove away from the McDonald’s, then made a U-turn and accelerated toward the 17-year-old, police said. The teen reported being hit in the legs by the Acura and had bruises and cuts on the legs.

A victim corroborated the teen’s statement, police said. Officers later found the vehicle in the 100 block of Watermark Terrace, and police said it had scratches and damage consistent with what the teen told them.

Police said the suspect was on suspicion of the assault, as well as making criminal threats, and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.
