An employee at a Victorville bar was fatally stabbed Sunday as he attempted to break up a fight in the parking lot, the San Bernardino County sheriff’s office said.
Deputies who were called to Bombshells Bar & Grill at 1:43 a.m. Sunday found Brian Lopez suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A second victim, a 46-year-old Victorville man, suffered facial injuries and a non-life-threatening stab wound.
Witnesses said the incident began as a fight between two women in the parking lot. “Several people became involved and detectives believe Lopez was attempting to break up the fight when he was stabbed,” the sheriff’s report said.
The alleged stabber — a 40-year-old San Bernardino man — reportedly tried to drive away from the scene but crashed into two vehicles in the parking lot. A Bombshells employee detained him until the deputies arrived. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Lopez, 31, was a resident of Hesperia and worked as a barback at Bombshells. Social media tributes said he was the father of a 6-month-old boy.
A week earlier and 4 miles to the south, a patron at a Hesperia bar was fatally shot during a parking lot fight. Nobody has been arrested in that killing.
