OAKLAND — A 24-year-old man shot to death Oct. 2 in the Dimond district was identified by police Thursday as Lance Barr, of Oakland.
Barr was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in the 2100 block of MacArthur Boulevard near Dimond Avenue at about 11:22 p.m. Oct. 2 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are trying to determine why he was in the Dimond district and why he was shot. No arrests have been made.
The killing was the 80th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year, of which 75, including Barr’s, are classified as murders. For all of last year Oakland had 78 homicides of which 75 were classified as a murder, which is the unlawful killing of another human without justification or valid excuse.
