Los Gatos residents get to know the people in their neighborhood

The annual Cancer CAREpoint Garden Party was held last month at Nestldown thanks to Mark and Barbara Beck, who provided the venue. “I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all: the Becks, our volunteers who created a fabulous event and our sponsors and supporters who generously gave over $1.1M to care for cancer patients, survivors, family members and caregivers in our community,” executive director Dawn Hogh said. “As Ruth (Slyngstad) so eloquently shared, you have given the gift of time to people impacted by cancer, and we are so grateful for your support. No one should face cancer alone.” Cancer CAREpoint provides personalized support services and programs for anyone impacted by cancer in the Bay Area. Slyngstad spoke of her cancer battle and about being grateful for the support of family, friends and Cancer CAREpoint.

There’s nothing like a block party to get to know your neighbors. For the past 25 years (with a timeout for the pandemic), folks on Matilija Drive in Los Gatos have been gathering on Labor Day. A longtime resident said, “I’ve lived here for 30 years and just met my neighbors – and you know what? They’re nice!”

Joseph and Janice Gali are the husband-and-wife team behind Gali Vineyards. You can sample estate-grown, award-winning wines in their tasting room in downtown Los Gatos. Mayor Maria Ristow is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome CycleBar’s new owner to Los Gatos at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. s28, at 15525 Union Ave. CycleBar features indoor cycling designed for all fitness levels, and your first ride is on the house.

Jennifer Gaines from Power4pilates reports they are celebrating their one-year anniversary. “It’s amazing how many women (and men) we are positively impacting in Los Gatos, and surrounding areas,” Gaines says. “We are proud that with our client support, Power4 Pilates has been able to support local organizations like the National Charity League, the Valle Monte League, Los Gatos Wine Walk sand the Los Gatos Jazz Festival.” If you’d like to give it a try, the first class is free.
