Casey for needed
change on S.J. Council
As a business owner and fourth-generation San Josean, I strongly support George Casey for San Jose City Council.
The current leadership has had its chance to address some serious challenges, but there is growing frustration among residents and business owners that change is needed.
George, with his experience as a San Jose planning commissioner, attorney and real estate professional, is the right person to deliver that change. His diverse background gives him a unique perspective on housing, economic development and the future of our city. George understands District 10’s concerns and has the skills to tackle them head on. He listens, values transparency and has a clear plan to address public safety, support local businesses and resolve housing issues.
It’s time for a leader with the experience and vision to make real progress. Casey is that leader.

Trump would be bad
for students with loans
The rising cost of education at San Jose State University, and universities nationwide, could worsen if Donald Trump is elected president.
Trump has consistently criticized President Joe Biden’s efforts to provide student debt relief, calling them “vile” and “not even legal.” At a recent rally in Wisconsin, Trump reiterated his plan to eliminate the Department of Education if reelected. This would significantly impact students, potentially increasing their debt burdens, which could take years to repay. It would also harm teachers, public defenders, first responders and others.
Younger generations must recognize the potential consequences of Trump’s presidency, particularly with student loan debt in America.

Patriotic Republicans
should vote Democrat
This letter is for the Republicans who know better and still support Donald Trump.
Are you proud of a man so immature that he constantly calls out anyone who slights him with derogatory names characteristic of a third-grader? Are you proud of the tens of thousands of lies he has spewed out over the past eight years? Are you proud of his cognitive decline (Bagram is an airbase in Afghanistan not Alaska)? Are you proud of the fact that your support will be complicit in destroying our democracy and installing a fascist/authoritarian government if Trump wins in November?
Voting for Kamala Harris doesn’t make you a Democrat but a patriot in the words of former Georgia Republican Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan. Can you put the love of your country before party and personal interests? Do you have the courage to be a patriot? I hope so. Our democracy depends on it.

A peaceful transition
was never in doubt
This presidential election will be my 14th. Even though I’ve voted both sides of the aisle, when my candidate of choice lost, there was no doubt in my mind, not a reasonable doubt, but no doubt, a peaceful transition of power would take place; that the country would be in the hands of a patriot, a person who, if not managing things to my personal liking, would protect and honor our Founding Father’s …read more
