OAKLAND — Police were at the scene of a double shooting in an East Oakland neighborhood, authorities said Sunday.
Around 9:35 p.m., officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity near Bancroft Avenue and High Street in the city’s St. Elizabeth neighborhood.
Officers found two victims at the scene, one suffering from a wound to the abdomen and another struck in the leg.
Officers worked to provide emergency life-saving measures before firefighters and paramedics’ arrival, and the victims were taken to an area hospital for treatment. One victim was listed in critical condition, but another was listed in stable condition.
Police were working to gather evidence, speak with witnesses and block off traffic along High and Bancroft, and other nearby streets. Officers were not immediately available to confirm a single suspect taken into custody and the recovery of a firearm.
For information leading to the arrest of a suspect, police are offering up to $5,000 in each shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.
