Campbell’s Heritage Theatre is celebrating its 20th anniversary season with a concert by a longstanding Bay Area favorite, a tribute to a diva and a screening of a classic cult film followed by a conversation with cast members.
The season opens big on Saturday, Oct. 7, with “Queen of the Night! Remembering Whitney,” starring Trina Johnson Finn in a 90-minute show that brings the hits of the late Whitney Houston to the stage. Besides Whitney’s music, Finn also provides personal insights into each song. She’s supported by Las Vegas musicians, two backing vocalists and four dancers.
On Thursday, Nov. 2, the Heritage hosts a screening of “Napoleon Dynamite,” the movie that reintroduced Tater Tots to popular culture. The movie will be followed by a conversation with cast members Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Efren Ramirez (Pedro) and Jon Gries (Uncle Rico).
A limited number of tickets are available to a special VIP Meet and Greet at 6 p.m. on the day of the event. The VIP package is $75 (in addition to the $55 event ticket) and includes a meet and greet with the actors, professional photographs and a signed poster.
Just in time for the holidays, Tower of Power’s Holidays and Hits Tour hits the Heritage Theatre stage on Saturday, Dec. 16. The concert combines the band’s hits with a dusting of holiday classics.
Formed in 1968, Tower of Power debuted on the Warner Brothers label in 1972 with “Bump City,” which featured the hits “You’re Still A Young Man” and “Down to The Nightclub.” The ’70s were a boom period for the band, with radio classics like “So Very Hard to Go” and “What Is Hip?” Over the years, Tower of Power has come to define the “Oakland soul” sound.
In addition to standard admission tickets, Tower of Power is offering a limited quantity of VIP access for most shows on the tour. The VIP package includes preferred seating, a Tower of Power bomber jacket, a limited-edition VIP laminate, Tower of Power pins and a commemorative VIP ticket.
Four-time Grammy-winner Jimmie Vaughan brings his Tilt-A-Whirl Band to the Heritage on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
Throughout his career, Vaughan has been on a constant quest to play the blues, whether it was in early 1970s Austin bands like Storm and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, or later with brother Stevie Ray Vaughan on their “Family Style” album and on his own releases throughout the 1990s and in 2001.
His latest release, 2019’s “Baby, Please Come Home,” brought him back into the spotlight with another Grammy nomination and a Blues Foundation Award for Best Male Artist.
The Heritage Theatre’s 2023-24 season will also include a special 20th anniversary show and a spring concert, to be announced soon.
