LOS ANGELES — The mother of a 2-year-old girl who died after being left in a hot car near Los Angeles was sentenced Wednesday to more than 14 years in prison, prosecutors said.
Lacey Mazzarella, 35, pleaded no contest in October to one count each of voluntary manslaughter, mayhem and child abuse resulting in death, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

Mazzarella left her daughter alone inside a car with the heater on while she went to drink with a friend in another car in September 2019, according to prosecutors. Investigators said Mazzarella passed out and when she woke up hours later she found the girl dead.
