SAN JOSE — A bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle in 2013 succumbed earlier this month to injuries received in the collision, according to a press release from the San Jose Police Department.
The incident has become the 42nd fatal collision and 42nd traffic death of 2013.
On March 4, 2013, a 1996 green Toyota Corolla driven by an adult woman was traveling eastbound on Azucar Avenue toward Discovery Avenue when it struck an adult male riding a bicycle, authorities said. The bicyclist had also been traveling eastbound on Azucar Avenue.
Officers from SJPD responded to the incident around 12:23 p.m. The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was stabilized.

Because of the severity of his injuries, the bicyclist was placed in long term care, authorities said. He died on Oct. 22 of injuries sustained in the collision.
The victim’s identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
