With 40.6% of the vote, Archbishop Mitty right-hander Tristan Fox is the Bay Area News Group’s boys athlete of the week for May 31-June 5.
Fox, a 6-foot-4 junior, pitched 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball as the Monarchs defeated Valley Christian 3-2 in the WCAL championship game. He made nine starts this spring and posted a 1.64 ERA over 51 1/3 innings.
Half Moon Bay basketball junior Sean Kennedy edged out Bishop O’Dowd basketball senior Jarin Edwards, 27.3% to 24.4%, for second place. Kennedy came off the bench to bury seven 3-pointers and finish with 23 points against Bellarmine in the CCS Open Division playoffs, and Edwards scored 24 points as O’Dowd completed an undefeated league season.
Congratulations to Fox, Kennedy, Edwards and all the others who were in the running.
