Abby Huntsman Abruptly Quits The View. Is Meghan McCain to Blame?

Abby Huntsman has left The View.

On its own, this should not be groundbreaking news.

After all, anyone familiar with this talk show and its history must also be familar with the fact that panelists come and go on a near-yearly basis.

In the case of this 33-year-old, however, viewers have more questions than usual because it appears as if Huntsman may have departed the program due to a toxic workplace culture.

Not that this is what she said, of course.

On air, Huntsman said she was departing from the daytime show to help manage her father Jon Huntsman Jr.’s campaign for governor of Utah.

“This is always such a hard thing to do,” she said yesterday, continuing as follows:

“And especially this table because this is a really special table. The most iconic show on television and the smartest women I have ever worked with. But today I am saying goodbye. This is something I thought a lot about.”

The most iconic show on television? Yes, Huntsman laid it on pretty thick.

“As you guys know my number one priority is my family,” Abby went on to explain. “There’s no one I believe in more than my own dad right now to run for politics…

“It’s not often in life that you get these moments to go fight for something that you are so passionate about.”

Huntsman proceeded to issue a warning to her father’s political opponents:

“If ‘The View’ taught me anything it taught me how to fight — so whoever is running against my dad you better be worried!”

Huntsman became a co-host of “The View” in 2018, serving as a conservative voice on the series,

Her departure comes amid various reports of behind-the-scenes conflict among the co-hosts and fellow conservative Meghan McCain.

And this is where things get interesting.

CNN Business spoke to half a dozen people close to The View and each described “a toxic work environment, including a soured relationship between Huntsman and McCain.”

This report says such a dispute with McCain was just merely one factor in Huntsman’s feeling that she should leave… but it was a factor.

Over what did these two argue?

CNN alleges the main source of conflict was over Huntsman’s on-air enthusiasm for her kids, oddly enough.

McCain, who wrote an op-ed in The New York Times about her miscarriage last summer and has continued to talk publicly about her fertility challenges, suggested to Huntsman that the child-centric chats were insensitive.

Following one episode, for example, McCain allegedly confronted Huntsman for bringing up her kids on the show.

Word of the “baby fight,” as one person called it, quickly spread around The View and strained the relationship between the two women, per CNN.

“Abby was sick of being berated by Meghan for perceived slights,” one of the sources told CNN. “She ultimately decided she didn’t need this job and it wasn’t worth it.”

Despite the tensions that have existed between them, McCain on Monday wished Huntsman “nothing but the best on her next chapter.”

“I think leading a gubernatorial campaign is a really good reason to leave the …read more
