Bears bench QB Tyson Bagent after two interceptions vs. Packers, then Case Keenum throws one, too

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Bears coach Ben Johnson benched quarterback Tyson Bagent in the fourth quarter Sunday after the team fell behind 31-7 against the Packers. Case Keenum took over with 14:47 remaining.

Bagent, starting for injured quarterback Caleb Williams, never got the offense in rhythm and sunk the Bears with two interceptions. He completed 12 of 21 passes for 87 yards and exited with a 27.4 passer rating.

Keenum got a good opportunity starting at the Packers’ 31-yard line after rookie Zavion Thomas’ 61-yard kick return. He completed his first two passes to get the Bears to the 3-yard line, but threw an interception in the end zone on fourth-and-goal from the 10.

The Bears now hope Williams will return Sunday to face the Falcons in Atlanta. He progressed from throwing on the side last week to practicing partially Friday to working out at Lambeau Field on Sunday morning and appears to be on track to step back into his spot when the team resumes practice Wednesday.

Williams worked on taking snaps under center, dropping back, handing off and throwing deep in his workout in Green Bay and moved well.
