Bears report: RB D’Andre Swift misses practice with knee injury

What happened Thursday at Halas Hall:

No Swift

Bears running back D’Andre Swift did not practice Thursday because of a knee injury. He was not on the team’s injury report for their walk-through a day earlier and ran 20 times for 84 yards against the Eagles on Monday night. If the knee continues to be a problem, the Bears would lean on Kyle Monangai, who had 10 carries for 31 yards last year. Friday’s injury report will be telling for Swift, who missed only one game last season.

Kyler still at it

Slot cornerback Kyler Gordon practiced for the first time since the spring after the Bears’ opened his 21-day window to return before Wednesday’s walk-through. Gordon has battled a calf injury since offseason workouts, much to the frustration of his bosses, and has trained both inside and outside Halas Hall.

“I’ve got extreme confidence in what he can do when he’s out there on the field —  and so that’s never wavered,” defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said. “I think as we all know, the biggest thing for Kyler is for him to be healthy and be able to stay healthy. And so that’s kind of where the focus is. You know, obviously when we get to a point where he’s been able to get himself into football shape, be able to stay healthy, I see him being back out on the field for us and helping us win a lot of games.”

Caleb still out

Quarterback Caleb Williams didn’t practice, continuing his streak of sitting out since he pulled his hamstring against the Vikings.

Left tackle Braxton Jones, whom head coach Ben Johnson calls “week-to-week,” didn’t practice.

Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and Joe Thuney got veteran days off Thursday, while Cam Lewis (hip) was limited. Guard Jonah Jackson, who was on Wednesday’s injury report for personal reasons, was a full participant.
