Bears WR Rome Odunze limited in team’s first injury report

Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze would have been limited in practice today because of a right calf injury had the team not had the day off.

Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent would have missed practice altogether with a back problem. He practiced Tuesday.

Left tackle Ozzy Trapilo was limited, too, as he works his way back from a patellar tendon injury. He’s not expected to play in games for weeks.

Odunze walked off the field Thursday. Coach Ben Johnson said Tuesday that he considered the third-year wide receiver day-to-day and was hopeful he’d be able to face the Panthers.

Wednesday marked the first day that the NFL required the Bears to submit an injury report. The Bears did not practice Wednesday but issued an estimated report, saying what would have happened if the Bears had held practice. They’ll issue injury reports again Thursday and Friday leading up to Sunday’s season opener against the Panthers in Charlotte, N.C.
