The Cubs‘ Pete Crow-Armstrong already had a pretty good case for National League Most Valuable Player.
He made it even stronger Saturday, hitting three home runs for the first time in his career. Crow-Armstrong went deep twice against Reds starter Andrew Abbott, and then off Cincinnati’s Tony Santillan in the seventh. As Crow-Armstrong rounded the bases, the crowd loudly chanted MVP! MVP!
With the trio of homers, Crow-Armstrong has 36 home runs on the season. He entered the day leading baseball with 8.6 wins above replacement (per FanGraphs) and 7.9 WAR according to Baseball Reference.
