Warriors Announce Disappointing Stephen Curry News Ahead of Lakers Game

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors got back in the win column in last night’s win over the lowly Sacramento Kings.

The victory gave the Warriors a breath of fresh air and pulled them within five games of .500. No, they won’t exceed that mark or even reach it, but the closer the win and loss numbers are, the better things will look in the end.

More importantly, Tuesday night was Curry’s second game back from injury in his second in three nights. It was a solid opportunity for some more burn for the 38-year-old Warriors star, who is still working his way back after a runner’s knee injury forced him to miss 27 straight games.

Over two contests, Curry has recorded 46 points on 16-for-33 shooting overall and 9-for-21 from 3-point range. For someone who didn’t take a single dribble in an NBA game for over two months, that is quite impressive.

Did anyone mention he’s been on a strict minutes restriction? Curry has played a combined 51 minutes in two games.

Warriors Announce Stephen Curry’s Playing Status vs. Lakers

It’s no surprise Curry hasn’t yet seen his usual action since he’s returned from injury. Considering the numerous miles on his legs and his age, it is wise to slowly work him back to game speed.

Curry and the Warriors brass have agreed to limit his minutes over these final regular season games. While one could argue he should try to play at least one regular season game at full capacity to better prepare for next week’s play-in game, Golden State much rather play a 100% healthy Curry in a single-elimination game than one that’s back to speed but slightly hobbled.

For that reason, it won’t be surprising if Curry’s status for any of these final games is up in the air before gametime.

Ahead of the Warriors’ battle with the Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow, Curry has been listed as questionable

Although this doesn’t come as a surprise, it is somewhat disappointing nonetheless. Fans have already waited months for Curry to hit the hardwood again. Seeing him potentially miss another game would be a bummer.

Warriors a Lock for the Play-In as Curry Ramps Back Up

All in all, Dubs fans can’t be too disappointed.

Given the litany of terrible injuries to key players this season, all Golden State can ask for is a chance. It’ll get that thanks to the play-in tournament, but, boy, is there a tall mountain to climb if the Warriors want a first-round date with the defending champions.

Not one, but two.

Two times does Golden State need to survive a single-elimination game to even begin its quest for a championship. The Warriors faithful genuinely believe all is possible if No. 30 in white and blue is on the court.

For them to maximize their chances at advancing further, they’ll need Curry to resume playing at full capacity and big men Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford to get healthy once and for all.

Throw in Draymond Green’s savviness and the capable hot shooting of role players like De’Anthony Melton, and you have a puncher’s chance.
